Who is LAN Ohio?

We are a few computer game lovin' fools that want to provide the LAN party experience to the general public. We want to attract a diverse group of gamers. We have guys that play on the Internet all the time to guys that have trouble beating the novice bots in UT. Everyone is welcomed and we try to accommodate all gaming skill levels.

LAN Ohio was started by Pizzaman and Hungry Jack. DOA and Humanshield have recently invested in the parties and together we all run the show and make sure everything goes off without a hitch. Eventually we'll put some profiles in here for your viewing pleasure.

We used to be LAN Gamers Monthly. Hungry Jack didn't like the name and it was also way too long of a URL. So, we shortened it to LAN Ohio.

What is the purpose of LAN Ohio?

We want to try to run a first-class LAN party for the Northeast Ohio region. Our goal is to one day have gigantic parties and be able to host tournaments for the most popular games. The money we make from the admission goes right back into the party for prizes , servers, and networking equipment.

In the future we may rent our services for your own LAN parties. We would provide the network, you supply the players and computers.

This sounds fun! How do I sign up?

If you are interested in attending one of our LAN parties, then please click here to fill out a form to create a LAN Ohio user account.

How much does it cost to get in the door?

The cost to get in the door the day of the party is $. It will only cost you $ if you send us the admission charge before 9:00 PM on the Friday before the party. Please check the User Manager for details on the Pre-Pay option.

Why is the admission price so high?

Like so many other clubs, we need to have money to pay for the hall and the services we provide. If you have anything that you think will help lower our price, by all means let us know! We are always looking for the lowest prices so we can deliver the best product!

What do I need to bring?

  • Your computer
    • A PC with an 800 MHz or higher processor
    • 128 MB RAM or more
    • over 2 gigs of free hard disk space
    • 32 MB or better 3d accelerator (Nvidia GeForce 3 or greater recommended)
    • Network card with TCP/IP configured to use DHCP
    • Keyboard
    • Mouse
    • Headphones (NO SPEAKERS ALLOWED)
  • A copy of your operating system setup CD and any drivers you may need.
  • 14' LAN cable. (We sell them for $4 if you don't have one)
  • Power strip
  • Power cables
  • Monitor
  • We have chairs, but feel free to bring your own

Why can't we bring speakers?

LAN parties that are loud are great fun, but it's really hard to yell across a room of explosions! On the other hand, if everyone had headphones on, the party doesn't seem like anything is going on!

Our new policy is if there are more than 15 people attending, we will require headphones. A room of 30 players with loud speakers gets a little out of hand!

Will food be available?

We provide food at the party. We sell hot dogs, pop, and snacks for a very reasonable price. We're just aiming to make the money back to pay for the food expense.

What prizes will there be?

We usually have a variety of prizes. We usually give out a few door prizes so everyone that participates in the event has a chance to walk away with something!

Here are just a few of the possible prizes:
  • Discounts/Free admission to the next LAN Ohio party
  • Discounts for some of our sponsor's products
  • A 12 bottle case of Bawls
  • Sponsor T-shirts
  • Whatever else the sponsors want to give us!

What games will we play?

We have dedicated servers running all the popular games. Check the event info or read the forums to see what we'll be playing. Right now, Battlefield 1942 and it's mods are dominating our parties. We try to mix it up when we can. Stop by the forums and tell us what you'd like to play!

What are we going to do all day?

  • Sponsor provided door prizes will be given out at various times during the day.
  • We usually run a tournament if we have enough support for it. Check the main page for details.
  • We alse have an awards ceremony for the tournament winners.

Is alcohol allowed?

Alcohol IS allowed. Don't be stupid with it or we will take it form you. Underage driking will NOT be tolerated. You will be kicked out indefinitely.

Can I smoke inside?

We've tried it a couple times. It does not work. We have to restrict the smoking to outside. Such is the life of a smoker.
